Pashmina, a soft woolen wearable, is well known today, because of its simplicity, beauty and warmth. It has been a common man's treasure and a designer's obsession for many years now.
Pashmina is a Persian word used for " wool " that refers to the under-fur of high altitude animal. It is actually woolen merchandise made from very soft wool derived from the undercoat of a domestic animal found only at high hilly places called " Capra Hirus " also known in Nepalese as " Chyangra ". There is no documentation to support the fact as to how and who initiated Pashmina but it is believe that in the 17th century, villagers living in high altitude places started making conventional wearable form the fur of their domestic goats in order to avoid the cold freezing weather. The result was so effective and suitable that it rapidly became favorite among people. It was then produced in quite substantial amount to meet the demands. This tradition was pass down from a generation to another until today's modern world aging back from utility to adornment.
